What we keep, and for how long

  • Your sheet: what you type into it (name, destination label, date, times, miles, speeds, prices, people). Nothing else: no name, email, phone or device location.
  • The link: we keep only a SHA-256 scramble of the 12-character code, so we cannot list or recover anyone’s link.
  • Deleting: the Delete button removes the sheet from the live database at once. Backup copies still hold it for a while: nightly database copies are kept 14 days and the server’s account backups about a month. A sheet nobody opens for 400 days is deleted automatically.
  • Abuse limits: we count new sheets and changes per address per hour and per network per day, stored only as a salted scramble of the address and cleared after two days.
  • Cookies: one security cookie protects the forms. No tracking or advertising cookies, no analytics services and no fonts from other sites. The only script from another site is the adengine.us banner ad on the public pages, described under Advertising; it counts one page view per page as a daily total.
  • Server logs: the web server keeps standard access logs (address, time, page) for security and troubleshooting.

Advertising

Since 17 October 2026 the public pages of this site (home, Pricing and How the math works) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind Travel Garfield. For now the ads are for WeldonPC’s own services. Your trip sheets, their cards and calendar files, this page, the terms and error pages show no ad and load nothing from adengine.us, so a sheet’s link and contents never reach it.

To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your address (IP address), your browser type and the address of this site with those requests: the site’s address only, never the page’s.

  • No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
  • How your address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC’s own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
  • What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
  • Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
  • Nothing about you is sold or shared.
